WRITTEN REFLECTIONS

I am sure that most of us at some point have purposely initiated a massive life change… a radical career shift, a physical relocation to another place, a psychedelic ceremony... a choice that may seem contrary to what’s rational and expected yet right to re-structure your Soul.​
​

All of these are, by my estimation, a rite-of-passage that we create for ourselves in a social structure that has largely lost its way with ushering us through the ongoing transitions of one life phase into the next.

What appears creatively unhinged from the outside can actually support us to find our genuine needs and values, rather than value systems, beliefs, and ways of doing things we have inherited from personal and ancestral trauma imprints (hello Saturn moving into Pisces on a Virgo full moon.)

For example, there is no specifically recognized rite-of-passage or ceremony for a childless woman, such as myself, to honor her transition from Maiden to Mother. Further down the line, she also likely has no communal container to recognize her transition into an elder and the Crone. (I’m offering a women’s retreat in Colorado this May that centers these specific themes — please inquire).

The outpicturing for men in these matters is just as dire.

So if you happen to be living on the side of crazy wisdom by initiating a great change and rite-of-passage on your own accord, congratulations!

You don’t need to wait for your life to blow up, become terribly ill, or any other aggressive spiritual wake-up call that something in your life needs a major overhaul. When you initiate from conscious choice, the circumstances tend to be kinder and more mature. ​

I recently initiated one of these crazy wisdom rites for myself, and it is so beautifully exquisite and alive, while also asking me to peer into some of my deepest core wounds, ego attachments, and blind spots.

Initiations will do that.

This initiation is far from over… and blessed be… I bow at the feet of this change as I dance with humility and vitality while confronting my faith.

On the one hand, I feel entirely supported by spirit and on the other hand entirely vulnerable in my humanity.

Such is the nature of this quest to rediscover home, inside and out. ​

I have been fortunate to have great teachers in my life that I can lean into, AND every person on my path is a mirror and teacher for my soul growth.

The blessings of the mushroom and cactus spirits have also been massive guides in opening my heart, processing deep-rooted ancestral trauma, stepping into a simplified lifestyle, discovering amplified inner truths, deepening an inquiry around community and family, and generally just helping me become a better person.

​

This path isn’t the easy or simple path.

It’s neither a quick-fix nor an experience to be had.

It’s full of crazy wisdom.

​

If you invite Spirit in, they will ask for a long-term commitment to serve the highest… not necessarily what your ego wants, rather what your soul came to learn.

And that lesson, plain and simple as I’ve come to understand it thus far, is Love and Acceptance.

That’s it?

That’s it.

Pretty much everything else is an ego construct worthy of self-examination.
